Studio Baby Shower

This Sunday is my baby shower at the dance studio. I am very excited! I cant wait!

Its hard to believe that there is only 21 days until Sawyer Gray Switzer arrives. He may arrive sooner, because my doctor may schedule me for an induction. Since we are moving to Denton before the actual due date, she thinks she will schedule me a day to drive into Abilene to have the baby and will induce labor. So we will see what happens! I really hope I dont go into labor before then, because 3 1/2 hours in the car to Abilene while in labor does not sound fun!

Keep up in your prayers!

Dance Recital

This Friday is our second annual Lifesong Studio Dance Recital. It will be held at Birdville High School at 6pm and our theme this year is "Music in Motion!".

Someone forwarded me this funny email about attending dance recitals and I thought I would post it. Enjoy!

LESSONS LEARNED AT DANCE RECITALS
By JOY DONOVAN
Star-Telegram staff writer
Attending certain events this time of year is a given.
There will be graduations. There will be weddings. There will be dance recitals.
Many of these rites of passage can, at times, be seen as tests of one's endurance, especially if one is at any of the aforementioned events not as a direct participant, but out of sense of duty.
When one accepts an invitation to one such event, one could attempt any number of mental exercises to pass the time. One can try to recall chronologically the U.S. presidents or work out in one's head the square root of 1,369 -- so as not to indulge in annoying chitchat or appear disinterested. Or one could attempt to use this as a learning experience, a chance for continuing education even before the mortar boards are tossed or the curtain comes down.
The following are my observations from many afternoons and evenings spent in a darkened auditorium. It is dedicated to "Miss Jean," Jean Bleakley, my dance teacher for more than 10 years, the most glamorous woman I have known in my lifetime.

What Dance Recitals Have Taught Me

1. Practice can make perfect, or at least closer to perfect than not practicing.
2. Sometimes you're in the front, and sometimes you're in the back. It's the overall effect of the group that's important.
3. Being on your toes can be a supreme effort, but it's worth it.
4. Music can make you happy.
5. Being in sync with the people around you can make life easier. Smacking right into somebody usually doesn't feel good for either the smacker or the smackee.
6. Different people can perform the same moves, but the results can look as different as the people making those moves.
7. Talent can be recognized at an early age, but sometimes hard work can make up for a lack of talent.
8. A spotlight can distract from what you set out to do.
9. The perfect costume can give you confidence.
10. Sometimes you get to start over, and that second time you learn from your mistakes.
11. Sometimes you don't get to start over, and even though the routine wasn't great, the sun comes up the next day anyway.
12. Everyone can use a fan club.
13. Good friends will applaud you, even if you weren't flawless, because they appreciate your effort.
14. Flowers from your mom or dad are always nice.
15. No matter what you do, if you're 4 years old, wearing ruffled socks and a big bow, you are adorable.
16. No matter what -- keep smiling. A lot.
